Job Description:-
Salary Range: MYR 4,500 - 5,000 based on experience
Work Site: Klang Valley or Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (with flexible remote working arrangements)
Candidates must be available to start immediately.
This position is on a contract basis and is renewable yearly based on satisfactory performance
Main Responsibilities:-
- Draft and prepare technical materials, including but not limited to reports, manuals, guidelines, and press releases pertaining to counter-wildlife crime strategies and efforts in Malaysia.
- Collect relevant data and information regarding the project’s output from team members, stakeholders, and research sources.
- Work closely with other team members, including the Project Officer, Research Officer, and Case Trackers, to ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation.
- Produce high-quality, well-structured documentation to effectively communicate project findings, guidelines, and procedures to stakeholders and project partners.
- Ensure all technical materials are clear, concise, and easily understood by stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and conservation partners.
- Regularly update and revise existing documentation to reflect the latest project developments, ensuring that all materials are current and relevant.
- Ensure that all assigned activities are consistent with the schedule and that all outputs are delivered on time and at the desired quality.
Requirements:-
- A bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Environmental Studies, Conservation Science, or equivalent is essential. 1-2 years of working experience drafting technical documents, manuals, or reports is essential.
- Familiarity with the legal system in Malaysia is essential.
- Interest and basic knowledge of wildlife conservation, law, and policy related to wildlife in Malaysia is essential.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with MS Office software and collaborative virtual platforms (Google Suite and Dropbox) is essential.
- Ability to work under pressure, with adaptability to last-minute changes and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Ability to communicate well and professionally with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the formal Bahasa Malaysia language, both spoken and written, is required.
- Submit two (2) writing samples in English and one (1) in Bahasa Melayu with your application, including one focused on a wildlife conservation issue in Malaysia.
