Job Title: IT Assistant / IT Executive

Reports to: HR & Admin Manager

Job Summary:

The IT Assistant supports the daily IT operations within the construction company, ensuring that all technology systems run smoothly. This includes assisting with hardware and software installations, providing helpdesk support, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining the company's IT infrastructure. The IT Assistant also helps implement construction-specific software, ensuring it is optimized for project management, design, and site operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide first-level technical support to staff, addressing issues with computers, printers, mobile devices, and construction software.
  • Respond to helpdesk queries and resolve IT-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level IT staff when necessary.

System and Network Maintenance:

  • Assist in maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and storage systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot network issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups, and security patches.

Software Support (Construction-Specific):

  • Install and support construction management software
  • Assist employees in using these tools effectively, including helping with software training and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and update construction project databases and ensure data integrity across systems.

Hardware Management:

  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of office hardware, including computers, printers, and network equipment.
  • Help manage the inventory of IT hardware and software licenses.
  • Install and configure new devices, ensuring they meet company and user requirements.

On-Site Support:

  • Provide IT support at construction sites, setting up mobile office environments with required technology (e.g., Wi-Fi, computers, and mobile devices).
  • Troubleshoot site-specific issues such as connectivity, remote access to project data, and hardware maintenance.

Cybersecurity:

  • Assist in implementing IT security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and data encryption to protect sensitive project data.
  • Ensure user accounts and permissions are properly managed, and maintain security protocols for remote access to systems.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the project management, engineering, and finance teams to ensure that IT systems are optimized for construction project management.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending new technologies that could improve operational efficiency on-site and in the office.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years of IT support experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Experience working with construction-specific software is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with IT hardware, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and remote access tools.
  • Knowledge of construction-related software such as Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, Sage, or Primavera is highly desirable.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • The role may require travel to construction sites for IT support.
