CLERK OF WORKS (MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL)
The Clerk of Works (Mechanical & Electrical) is responsible for overseeing all mechanical and electrical (M&E) aspects of construction projects. The role ensures that all M&E systems are installed in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This includes monitoring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices while ensuring the timely, cost-effective completion of M&E works.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Compliance with Policies and Procedures:
Ensure compliance with the organization’s Quality Management System, as well as all policies, procedures, and instructions related to M&E works.
2. Adherence to Drawings and Specifications (M&E):
Ensure that all M&E installations, including mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and electrical systems (power supply, lighting, etc.), are carried out according to the approved design drawings, specifications, and relevant codes.
3. Time, Cost, and Quality Control:
Monitor the progress of M&E works to ensure that they meet the project’s timeline, stay within budget, and achieve the required quality standards.
4. Inspection of M&E Installations:
Regularly inspect M&E systems such as electrical wiring, lighting, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
5. Identification of Defects and Solutions:
Identify defects in M&E installations and assess probable causes. Recommend corrective actions to maintain system functionality and ensure compliance with project specifications.
6. Material Examination (M&E):
Verify that all M&E materials, such as electrical cables, piping, ductwork, and equipment (generators, pumps, etc.), meet the required specifications and standards before installation.
7. Monitoring Workmanship in M&E Systems:
Ensure that all M&E trades adhere to high workmanship standards, especially regarding the proper installation of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
8. Testing and Commissioning of M&E Systems:
Witness tests on M&E installations, such as electrical continuity testing, HVAC system balancing, and pressure testing for plumbing, to verify functionality and adherence to specifications.
9. Pre and Post-Work Inspections on M&E Systems:
Conduct detailed inspections before and after the installation of key M&E systems to ensure that all works meet design and operational criteria.
10. Record Keeping of M&E Works:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all M&E works, including daily progress reports, materials delivered, testing records, and any deviations from the project plans.
11. Rejection of Substandard M&E Works or Materials:
Keep thorough records of rejected M&E works or materials, documenting the reasons for rejection and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented.
12. Measurement of M&E Work Done:
Measure the completed M&E installations to ensure that the quantities and quality of work match the approved plans and specifications.
13. Safety Compliance for M&E Installations:
Ensure that all M&E works are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, particularly concerning electrical and fire safety.
14. Notification of Non-compliance:
Immediately notify the superior if M&E installations do not meet specifications, and ensure that necessary actions are taken to rectify the situation.
15. Coordination with Other Disciplines:
Coordinate closely with architectural, civil, and structural teams to ensure that M&E systems are integrated smoothly with other elements of the construction project.
16. Testing and Handover of M&E Systems:
Assist in the final testing, commissioning, and handover of M&E systems, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet the required performance standards.
17. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:
Ensure that M&E systems comply with energy efficiency standards and sustainability requirements, especially with respect to HVAC systems, lighting, and water usage.
18. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
Identify and troubleshoot any issues related to M&E installations, offering practical solutions to resolve design, installation, or operational challenges.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Diploma in Civil /Building Engineering with 3-5 years working experience in the same field industry.
- Well organized independent and committed.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Time, cost, quality and safety conscious.
- Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
