We are seeking a strong team player and leader to join our dynamic team at Geohan as an Assistant Finance Manager. The ideal candidate will possess both technical expertise and effective communication skills, demonstrating the ability to navigate difficult conversations and make tough decisions when necessary. They should be comfortable expressing themselves clearly and concisely in a structured, factual, and meaningful manner. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for rallying the team during challenging times, providing essential support, and offering strategically important inputs to the senior management team to drive key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting, Management Reporting, and Compliance:
    • Lead the preparation of periodic (monthly, quarterly, and yearly) financial reports, including project costing, cash flow statements, and profit/loss summaries for senior management, highlighting key insights and trends.
    • Assist in preparing and reviewing tax filings, ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Collaborate with tax advisors and internal teams on transfer pricing documentation and compliance.
    • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results against forecasts, budgets, and KPIs, identifying key drivers and recommending action items.
    • Ensure strict adherence to compliance matters and regulations.
  • Financing & Budgeting:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate project financing needs and work with external financial partners (banks, lenders) to secure necessary funding.
    • Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to align financial plans with company objectives.
    • Provide guidance and training to department managers on budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Construction Project Costing:
    • Work closely with project managers to monitor project expenses and budgets.
    • Assist in the preparation and analysis of job cost reports, ensuring projects remain within budget and financial targets are met.
    • Manage subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Billing, Reconciliation & Payment Processing:
    • Process invoices, manage expense reports, and resolve any discrepancies related to billing.
    • Reconcile bank statements and construction project budgets with the general ledger.
    • Assist in the preparation of payment applications and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Process Excellence:
    • Develop and improve reporting and review processes to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and enhanced insights.
    • Leverage technology and data analytics tools to improve financial reporting and analysis capabilities.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen) and strive for operational excellence.
  • Ad Hoc Financial Projects & Strategic Analysis:
    • Participate in ad hoc financial projects assigned by the Finance Manager, such as financial audits, project profitability analysis, and process improvements, corporate exercises, mergers and acquisitions activities through financial modelling, due diligence, and integration planning.
    • Create and maintain complex financial models to evaluate business scenarios, investment opportunities, and capital projects.
    • Conduct financial analysis on specific projects or potential new business ventures, providing insights to guide strategic decisions.
    • Analyze industry trends, competitor performance and market dynamics to inform strategic planning and decision making.
