Job Summary for Shipping Officer:
The Shipping Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the shipping department. This role involves coordinating the shipment of goods, ensuring accurate and timely delivery, managing documentation, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. The Shipping Officer will work closely with various departments to ensure efficient and effective shipping processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the shipping process, including scheduling shipments, preparing shipping documents, and arranging transportation.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists.
Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs agents to arrange transportation and facilitate smooth delivery of goods.
Track shipments and provide regular updates to customers on the status of their orders.
Resolve shipping-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies, in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain accurate records of shipping activities, including shipment details, costs, and delivery dates
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management.
Skills:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in shipping software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move packages weighing.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
Additional Information:
This position may require occasional travel.
Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.
