JOB SPECIFICATION & RESPONSIBILITIES
OBJECTIVES
- To assume full responsibility for the cost-effective operation of the Engineering Department.
- To prepare the annual and revised Engineering budget in close co-ordination with the Financial Manager and Management, commensurate with operational requirements of the property.
- To keep accurate records and monitor closely all Engineering budget expenditures, and to ensure that the budget is adhered to and costs strictly controlled.
- To allocate and countersign all invoices chargeable to the Engineering budget before being processed and charged.
- To establish an efficient system for the control and verification of all fuel deliveries to the premises.
- To ensure the repair works being carried out in most economical and effective manner.
- To supervise closely all engineering personnel in the performance of their duties.
- To delegate duties and responsibilities, as required, to the Assistant Maintenance Manager.
- To develop and implement a Comprehensive Preventive Maintenance Programmed for all equipment in the Hotel.
- To co-ordinate and, if so requested, supervise special projects and employment of outside contractors.
- To establish a well-organized Engineering Store and keep close control on consumption of material, stores and inventory control.
- To implement a comprehensive elevator emergency procedure and initiate employee training on emergency release procedures with the elevator manufacturer’s agent.
- To advise management on all matters of potential improvement to the operation.
- To assist the purchasing department with suggestions for the most economic purchase of parts and consumable and to issue clear and concise purchase request for such items.
- To be knowledge of statutory legislation in employment and industrial relations.
- To control and monitor closely all utility consumption, and to ensure optimum energy usage by all departments in the Resort.
- To observe energy efficiency of all equipment, forwarding to management suggestions for replacement of energy inefficient equipment and to report to management all wastage of energy.
- To assume full charge of building maintenance which includes guest room, public area, kitchen and all back of house.
- To establish a regular planned guest room servicing programmed in accordance with industry standards.
- To supervise major repair and maintenance of Electrical and Mechanical Services.
- To be fully in charge and responsible for the smooth function of the Department’s administration and maintenance of an efficient filling system.
- To make sure that all documents related to the operation of the department are being kept up to date, and that all records are correctly maintained and filed.
- To assume full responsibility for the preparation and timely submittal of all reports.
- To maintain a comprehensive library of manuals and parts lists of all operational equipment, as well as a complete set of up to date drawings of all areas and systems.
- To perform an annual evaluation of all Engineering personnel.
- To ensure that all employee report for duty punctually.
- To ensure that all employees wear the correct uniform and name tag at all times.
- To create an efficient and professional team of employees.
- To implement department training programmed ensuring the necessary skills of all employees to perform their duties with the maximum efficiency.
- To ensure that all Engineering staffs are fully familiar with and have a complete understanding of handling Mechanical & Electrical equipment’s.
- To select and recruit, in conjunction with Human Resource Office, suitable employees for the operation.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, direct and guide in all areas of Engineering matter.
- Administers the Policies and procedures within the Maintenance department.
- Follow through all actions required to be carried out by Engineering department.
- To monitor and to ensure the preventive maintenance programme being carry out.
- To supervisor and monitor those works carry out by outside contractor.
- To follow up & coordinate with purchasing department on delivery and selector of material.
- To monitor and to ensure the mechanical and electrical equipments are operating at its optimise manner.
