About the role

The First Line Leader will be responsible to develop and enable a first touch team of operators (including technical operators) to consistently deliver outstanding safety, quality, service and value to the person at the end of our supply chain’ customer obsessed.

The role has a direct hour by hour impact on the ambition of the Site Strategy to achieve the three zeros on Accidents, Defects and Waste. Accountability for ensuring that the area achieves its targets whilst meeting compliance standards production schedule and supply targets. Ensuring that the Operations business strategy aligns with Site Strategy is delivered through an engaged, motivated and capable team of staff. Work closely with the Business Unit Leads to drive improvements and deliver departmental targets. Ensure that the first touch team of operators consistently follow the judgmental ladder – EHS, Quality, Service and Cost

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible as Site Pharmacist, maintaining Poison A license and ensuring monitoring or poison control/management at site, maintaining poison sales records as required by regulations.
  • Accountable for delivery of day-to-day Value Stream targets and deploys TOP 3 Priorities/Problems approach to meet the value stream targets.
  • People Leadership -coordinate, manage and lead a capable team to work within a production environment in line with the site’s CA and Haleon policies, inspire team to live Haleon Values and Expectations, guide, coach and develop team members to ensure adherence to judgmental ladder of safety, quality, compliance and output.
  • Improve team capability by giving feedback, performing biannual performance review in line with Collective agreement, ensuring training needs and training matrix are addressed. Drive, manage and monitor team’s discipline, attendance, time keeping, overtime control to effectively manage resource within the operational budget. Be the first point of contact to manage grievance on shop floor as appropriate, escalate for support in a timely manner.
  • Problem solving and performance by driving production delivery to achieve set targets, lead performance management process within the shift team using accurate and timely information/ data, problem solve real time issues and identify resolutions using the Haleon Production System (GPS) problem solving process with support from support team and operators. Ensure that area returns to standard after a safety, quality or performance/ output deviation / incident in a controlled manner. Lead safety investigations and deviation root cause analysis, problem solving with cross functional team to avoid recurrence of issues.
  • Process management by ensuring adoption and adherence of standard work, ensuring team compliance to operating procedures, work instructions and batch directions, timely input into SAP and Workday, supporting team when there is a higher risk for issues to occur, providing guidance and resolving problems as they arise, ensuring alignment to and providing accurate data for tiered accountability meetings, follow through timely on the resulting action, ensuring lead and lag metrics are tracked to ensure timely closure of CAPA, change control, risk assessments. Execution of planning schedule to ensure targets of CTP, CTR, recoveries are achieved
  • Ensure attendance to various tiered accountability meetings, ensure visual tracking of kpis, identification of problems, leading problem solving, identifying risks with mitigation plans and escalating to next level following the escalation process.
  • Ensuring compliance by leading safety and quality gembas at site, ensuring adherence to requirements like LOTO, PTW, ensuring compliance to Collective agreement, ABAC, Haleon policies and sustainability by complying to GMP, Haleon Global Engineering Standards.
  • To be proficient in performing SAP transactions for processes needed in Production Department and to be tasked with the role of SAP supervisor/SME when deemed necessary.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • University Degree/ Tertiary qualifications in engineering, science or similar in operations related / technical such as chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, pharmacy or materials science and engineering.
  • Knowledge of science, processes and system
  • Manufacturing Management, People Leadership roles in Pharmaceutical or FMCG.
  • Comprehensive industrial experience in pharmaceutical (or FMCG) in manufacturing (3+ yrs.)
