Job Summary:
The Storekeeper / Supervisor is responsible for the efficient management of the raw material and hardware store, ensuring the accurate recording of stock movements, maintaining inventory levels, and supporting the smooth distribution of materials within the organization. This role involves receiving and inspecting incoming goods, maintaining proper storage practices, and overseeing the timely issuance of items to various departments. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record deliveries and departmental issues in the stock ledgers and ensure daily balancing of records according to established standards.
  • Match goods received with delivery notes and verified quantities against purchase orders.
  • Unload, inspect, and properly store received goods in designated areas, ensuring no goods are left unsecured or unattended at the loading bay.
  • Distribute goods to relevant departments or employees based on store requisitions and ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate inventory of raw materials, hardware, and consumables using the designated inventory management system.
  • Prepare weekly requisitions to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained at all times.
  • Conduct regular stock checks, reconcile discrepancies, and generate stock reports as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Implement and enforce proper security measures to protect stored materials from theft or damage.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining records for materials in and out of the store, including updating the computer inventory system on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
  • Maintaining proper documentation and standard operating procedures for the store.
  • Participate in periodic stock takes and audits to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage and maintain quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments regarding stock availability, deliveries, and requisitions.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Storekeeper, Supervisor, or in a similar role in warehouse management.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and stock control procedures.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and MS Office applications.
  • Good physical stamina, as the role involves handling and moving materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of safety and security protocols for warehouse management.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating shift and weekends as required.
  • Good attendance record and strong work ethic.
