Job Description:

The Safety and Health Officer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and monitoring the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) management system in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and Malaysian laws. This role ensures a safe and healthy working environment while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise top management on environmental, safety, and health (ESH) requirements.
  • Establish and maintain ESH practices in line with applicable laws, company standards, international standards, and customer compliance.
  • Ensure a safe and healthful workplace for all employees, ensuring compliance with applicable ESH-related laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage and improve Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental matters by controlling, monitoring, enforcing, and coordinating ESH-related tasks.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DOSH, DOE, Ministry of Health, Fire Services Department, and other relevant authorities to ensure full legal compliance.
  • Develop and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to prevent chemical, physical, and biological hazards in the workplace.
  • Supervise and address inspection findings, proposing solutions to eliminate incidents and hazards in the future.
  • Serve on the Safety and Health Committee, organizing and maintaining documents, notices, notifications, and minutes related to safety matters.
  • Investigate and analyze workplace accidents, preparing incident investigation reports and recommending corrective actions.
  • Raise awareness among all staff about environmental, health, and safety standards in the workplace.
  • Monitor and inspect equipment and workplaces to ensure proper use of protective equipment and compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all relevant ESH laws and regulations.
  • Organize and conduct emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.
  • Lead efforts to monitor environmental compliance, including managing scheduled waste, IETS, and acid scrubber operations, in line with DOE requirements.
  • Assist the Management Representative in establishing and monitoring ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Safety & Health Management Systems) compliance.
  • Support efforts to establish and maintain compliance with ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems).

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess minimum Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Health & Safety Officer by DOSH (Active Green Book holder).
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to deliver results and contribute effectively to safety initiatives.
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSH Act and Regulations.
  • Advantageous to have certifications in schedule waste, IETS, and scrubber operations.
