Job Summary:
The Desktop Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the desktop engineering team in designing, implementing, and maintaining desktop infrastructure and end-user computing environments. This role involves overseeing the deployment and support of desktop systems, ensuring security and compliance, and providing technical leadership to the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the desktop engineering team, providing guidance and support to team members.
Allocate tasks, set priorities, and manage team performance to meet organizational goals.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Design, implement, and manage desktop infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and applications.
Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of desktop systems and related peripherals.
Ensure the stability, security, and performance of the desktop environment.
Provide advanced technical support for complex desktop issues escalated from the support team.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues related to desktop systems.
Develop and implement solutions to improve desktop performance and user experience.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards.
Implement and maintain security measures, such as antivirus software, encryption, and patch management.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and mitigate security risks.
Lead desktop-related projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
Coordinate with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for desktop configurations, processes, and procedures.
Generate reports on desktop performance, support metrics, and project status.
Provide regular updates to management on team activities and progress.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in desktop engineering.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Drive innovation within the team to adopt new tools and technologies that improve the desktop environment.
Skills :
Strong technical expertise in desktop operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and related technologies.
Proficiency with desktop management tools and software (e.g., SCCM, Intune, JAMF).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
