We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Manager, Legal and Compliance to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Compliance, providing vital support in both legal advisory and compliance management functions. Key Responsibilities:
Legal
- Draft, review, and vet tenancy agreements, commercial contracts, financing agreements, and other legal documents.
- Provide legal advice on various matters and manage legal correspondences.
- Handle dispute resolution, arbitration, employment, and industrial relations matters independently, working with external solicitors and verifying facts.
- Liaise with external solicitors and authorities on all legal issues.
- Draft and review agreements related to asset acquisition/disposal, joint ventures, property management, and operational agreements.
- Manage ad-hoc legal projects independently.
Compliance
- Monitor and report on statutory and regulatory compliance requirements in areas such as anti-money laundering, anti-corruption, corporate governance, and personal data protection.
- Draft and review internal policies, SOPs, and ensure compliance with internal controls, legal frameworks, and delegation of authority.
- Provide timely updates to the Board and Management on new or amended laws/regulations and implement relevant internal controls to maintain adherence.
- Prepare and coordinate compliance reports for the Board of Directors.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, ideally with prior experience in both a law firm and in-house roles.
- Proven expertise in real estate, capital markets, and regulatory compliance is essential.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, ESG, and compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks (experience in these areas will be an advantage).
- Resourceful, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with external legal counsel, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
