Responsibilities
Make an impact Responsible to plan, manage and monitor projects across all phases of the project life cycle including setting deadlines, tracking of timeline, assigning responsibilities and summarize progress of the project within scope and project hours. You will ensure adherence to all the relevant software standards (especially WDS Process, PHB: Process Hand Book, CMMI standard guideline and SEP: Software Engineering Process) and will at all times act to improve the project benefit. You will manage a team of software engineers as well as to interact with the logistic functionalities to collect requirements for the system development.

Responsibilities

You will manage a team of software engineers as well as to interact with the logistic functionalities to collect requirements for the system development.
- Provide leadership, control and co-ordination of SW project team in terms of resources, performance management and information to maintain a team feeling and a target oriented approach towards common goals within the organization.
- Work closely with SW Project Leader to devise appropriate design strategies and development methodologies in line with Swisslog standard approach.
- Manage project issues, risks and assumptions through regular reporting.
- Monitor, track and communicate project progress status.
- Solve problems that interfere with the project status.
- Ensure that any changes within the project are managed properly throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide software technical support and guidance to project team members pertaining to project /software matter whenever possible.
- Provide consultation to clients on issues related to project matter.
- Travel local and oversea to client site and offices.
- Secure adequate resources for the project through forecasting, planning and scheduling with the team leaders and line managers.
- Participate in analysis and definition of Warehouse Management System software requirement.
- Work closely with SW Project Leader to identify gaps and propose technical solution to meet requirement specification.
- Solid understanding of the customer’s operational working practices and requirements.
- Successfully deliver project deliverables through the leadership and management of the project team, through team leaders and line managers as appropriate to ensure to meet and deliver contractual obligations of Swisslog clients.
- Control costs to ensure projects are kept within budget, are completed within the stipulated timescale whilst meeting the agreed scope without neglecting quality.
- Define and execute project plans, provide project reports and deliver work to agreed priorities, standards and dateline.
- Ensure contracted work is invoiced as soon as possible, with appropriate levels of backup documentation.
- Ensure all time and expenses are recorded and invoiced as appropriate.
- Produce and maintain sufficient project documentation and controls as detailed in the Swisslog quality management system eg: User requirements and process specifications.
- Participate in commissioning and testing of the WMS at various sites.
- To have a good understanding of the customers operational working practices to enable the team to improve the ability to influence, design and implement the project plan.
- To proactively work to develop and maintain good working relationships with the customers.
- Hold regular progress reviews and checkpoint meetings in order to ensure that progress and information are communicated to all relevant employees.
- Hold regular meetings/ briefings with the customer as appropriate, including post implementation reviews.
- Conduct project debriefing and ensure collecting feedback from all the project team members.
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent. Additional certification is project management is an added advantage.
- At least 7 years of working experience in similar capacity, with proven experience of managing successful projects in terms of scope, budget and warranty.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Good leadership skills with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals from different levels and cultures.
- Must be willing to travel and work overseas for long duration.
- Able to adhere to priorities and meet tight dateline.
- Practical experience of database programming for logistics applications is an added advantage.
- Good IT experience in an WMS environment is and added advantage.
- Prior working knowledge and experience in Automated Warehousing / ERP/SAP is an added advantage.
