What You'll Do
- Industrial Relations
- Handling and managing end-to-end of internal cases, including investigative work, liaising with Management and HODs, taking statements from employees and stakeholders for Group.
- Management of whistleblower cases and grievances that comes to HR.
- Management of employment litigation – appointment and instruction to external counsel, providing assessment of strength of cases, documentation and ensuring best case is put forward in all litigation, assessment on appeals and reviews where applicable.
- Management of reporting to authorities and statutory bodies in cases of redundancies and other cases which requires statutory reporting for employment cases
- Updating Management on material cases and providing relevant updates as and when requested/necessary.
- Establishing and maintaining leadership team that is aware of our obligations and internal processes in handling misconduct and poor performance.
- Act as liaison officer with relevant government bodies on all IR matters.
- Compliance with Malaysian labour laws
- Ensure we comply with all updated employment laws across the group e.g. on minimum wages, minimum benefits, and all statutory deductions.
- Ensuring employment contracts are updated and standardized with risk-mitigating clauses to protect company’s interests and values.
- Internal HR policies
- Ensuring that all HR policies are updated and published.
- Ensuring that we comply with all laws in our HR policies.
- Transformation & Employment Advisory
- Act as employment law specialist/subject matter expert in relation to transformation activities especially if involving reduction of workforce.
- Engage business heads and key stakeholders to provide input on employment laws and provide risk-mitigating alternatives/strategies.
- Freelance Management
- Provide managerial and strategic support to the Freelance Unit, comprising of assessment of exceptions to policies, amendment to practices and process improvements.
- Managing internal stakeholders on freelance and talent requirements.
- Ensuring compliance to internal processes and external legal obligations on recruiting independent contractors for work.
- Governance of ESG & Special Project
- Owner of ESG representative for Human Capital focusing on the Social pillar
- Ownership of the organization’s inclusion and diversity approach, as well as educating teams on unconscious bias in recruiting along with promoting inclusive behaviour within the workplace.
- Responsible to ensure company job ad appropriate and inclusive language and keeping up to date with local and national workplace laws, as well as human rights policies.
- Keep up to date with, and maintain compliance with, national policies that are focused on inclusion in the workplace.
- Create company policies and guidelines that address harassment
- Be responsible for tracking inclusivity metrics.
- Around 10 years experience in managing full spectrum of IR work including in leadership roles in managing an internal IR team.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial relations processes including the conciliation at the Jabatan Perhubungan Perusahaan (Industrial Relations Dept), the Industrial Court, as well as the Civil Courts.
- Negotiation and counselling skills for internal people management.
