Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology provides solutions include atomic force microscopy instrumentation (AFM) and non-contact nanometer resolution solution topography through white light interferometry and stylus profilometry. In addition, the division manufacturers and markets automated X-ray metrology, automated AFM defect-detection and photomask repair and cleaning equipment for semiconductor process control.
Responsibilities
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be based at Bruker Penang in Malaysia contributing directly to the design, test and release of our marketleading Atomic Force Microscopes. Responsibilities include the full range of product development from design, prototype, test, analysis and documentation of complex systems for precision imaging and metrology. You will be an integral member of the global team responsible for supporting and advancing the state-of-the art in nanoscale characterization technologies. This position requires strong initiative, close teamwork, technical curiosity and frequent communication.

- Define of engineering requirements
- Perform mechanical design and analysis
- Participate in design reviews
- Prepare component and assembly drawings
- Support user documentation formatting and layout in MadCap Flare
- Create prototypes and support system integration
- Evaluate performance and lead technical troubleshooting
- Author engineering reports
- Generate Bill of Materials
- Generate user documentation (eg: facilities and installation requirements.)
- Generate production documentation (eg: test and calibration procedures.)
- Support sustaining engineering activities
- Interact regularly with global colleagues
To be successful in this position, you will possess these KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Required
- Experience with precision mechanical design and 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
- Experience with GD&T, machining and additive manufacturing techniques, sheet metal design and fabrication
- Hard working, team oriented, bright, creative, cooperative and committed to quality
- Clear verbal and written English communications skills
- Experience with ePDM or other CAD data management systems
- Experience with precision motion control, optical fixturing techniques and electromechanical systems integration
- Experience with MadCap Flare
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis
- Knowledge of statics, mechanics, optical fundamentals, basic electronics and materials
- Experience in AFM, metrology, analytical laboratory or semiconductor manufacturing equipment or similar high technology instrumentation products.
- Degree/Masters in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 - 8 years in Mechanical and/or Mechanical Design & Development experience
