- Ensure full compliance with Malaysian OSHA 1994, FMA 1967 (Factories and Machinery Act), and any other relevant local legislation.
- Stay updated on DOSH guidelines and industry standards to implement in workplace policies.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Inspect and ensure all machinery, tools, and equipment meet safety standards and are maintained.
- Carry out risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards, analyze risks, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop and maintain a Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) system to manage workplace risks.
- Conduct safety training sessions and workshops for employees, including topics like emergency response, fire safety, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Promote a strong safety culture by raising awareness of safety practices and encouraging employee participation in safety programs.
- Lead investigations for workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and submit accident reports to DOSH as required by law and keep accurate records for internal use.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring all staff are aware of emergency procedures.
- Conduct regular emergency drills, including fire, chemical spill, and evacuation drills, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety committee meeting.
- Develop, update, and enforce workplace safety policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure that all safety documentation, including permits, safety data sheets (SDS), and inspection logs, are updated and accessible.
- Act as the main point of contact with DOSH and other relevant authorities for inspections and audits.
- Assist in regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring compliance and following up on corrective actions.
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO) by DOSH Malaysia Green Book.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years in a safety-related role, with experience in industrial, construction, or manufacturing settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational health and safety regulations.
- Familiar with ISO9001 and ISO45001.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Proficiency in safety management software and MS Office Suite.
