Brief Position Description:
The Compliance Counsel position is a position responsible for all legal and compliance activities within Novotech.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws from an accredited tertiary institution.
- Unrestricted practicing certificate.
- At least 5 years' experience providing corporate governance advice and compliance advice.
- Experience addressing privacy (including GDPR), anti-bribery and corruption, whistleblowing and modern slavery obligations in a multi-country environment.
- Experience conducting internal audits desirable.
- Experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical or professional services industry highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization, excellent written and verbal communication skills and good knowledge of office productivity software.
Responsibilities:
- To build and maintain Novotech's legal and compliance infrastructure.
- To implement and maintain the highest standards of corporate governance and compliance.
- To conduct internal audits in relation to key areas of compliance, including privacy and anti-bribery and corruption.
- Review and provide advice in relation to governance and compliance aspects of commercial contracts involving Novotech clients and suppliers.
- Draft documents required in relation to governance and compliance aspects of commercial contracts involving Novotech clients and suppliers.
- Respond to client requests around due diligence of Novotech and manage supplier responses for client and Novotech due diligence requirements.
- Work closely with the internal teams (in particular the Quality Assurance Team and the Project Management Office) to facilitate timely legal review and practical legal solutions in relation to key governance and compliance matters.
- To lead on governance and compliance activities at Novotech, including in relation to privacy, anti-bribery, whistleblowing and modern slavery.
- To provide training as needed in relation to governance and compliance activities at Novotech.
- To report on key aspects of governance and compliance activities at Novotech.
- Consult and collaborate with client legal counsel and other legal counsel as required.
