Sri KDU International School Kota Damansara is looking to appoint an innovative and dynamic EAL Teacher to join our talented, energetic and friendly Secondary team from January 2025 to develop and encourage the next generation of leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a curriculum that supports students with little or no English to transition to an inclusive English curriculum.
  • Provide English language support to students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, helping them develop their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages students to actively engage in English language learning.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other support staff to develop strategies for integrating English language instruction into the regular curriculum.
  • Design and deliver effective lessons that cater to the individual needs and proficiency levels of EAL students, employing a variety of teaching techniques and resources.
  • Assess and monitor student progress in English language proficiency, using appropriate assessment tools and providing timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans for students with specific language learning needs or challenges.
  • Work closely with parents and guardians to foster a strong home-school partnership, providing them with regular updates on their child's progress and offering strategies for supporting English language development at home.
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in EAL instruction, and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in team meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and school-wide initiatives related to language instruction and support.
  • Utilise technology and educational resources effectively to enhance English language learning experiences.

About the Role

Know their students as people and how they learn

It is an expectation that Sri KDU Teachers have detailed knowledge of not only the developmental characteristics and learning needs of the students they teach, but also their personalities and who they are as people. This requires real empathy in school in meeting with the wide variety of individual learning and pastoral needs of international school students with their differing linguistic, cultural and educational circumstances.

Plan and deliver excellent learning and teaching

It is an expectation that Sri KDU Teachers not only have up-to-date knowledge of their respective curricula, but they have high expectations for their students and as a result, set challenging learning goals. They are able to use a range of assessment strategies and data to inform student of their progress, which aids their planning and reporting of student progress and design appropriate intervention and support.
