Senior PLC Engineer

Introduction: As a Senior PLC Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems for industrial automation processes. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing control strategies, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of automation projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in PLC programming, industrial control systems, and a deep understanding of various manufacturing processes. Responsibilities: 1. PLC Programming: - Develop and implement PLC programs for industrial automation systems. - Design, code, test, and troubleshoot PLC logic and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) applications. - Collaborate with control system designers and electrical engineers to integrate PLCs into overall control systems. 2. Control System Optimization: - Analyze and optimize control strategies to enhance the efficiency and reliability of industrial processes. - Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance system performance. 3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: - Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC systems in a timely manner. - Conduct regular maintenance activities to ensure the longevity and reliability of control systems. 4. Collaboration: - Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers. - Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and technicians. 5. Documentation: - Create and maintain detailed documentation for PLC programs, control system architecture, and troubleshooting procedures. - Keep records of changes made to PLC code and configurations. 6. Stay Updated: - Stay informed about the latest advancements in PLC technology and automation trends. - Recommend and implement innovative solutions to enhance system capabilities. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. - Proven experience as a PLC engineer with a focus on industrial automation. - In-depth knowledge of PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text) and PLC hardware. - Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP). - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in an industrial automation environment. - Experience with HMI development and integration. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work independently and lead projects when necessary. Preferred Skills: - Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511). - Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations. - Experience with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. - Project management skills for overseeing automation projects from conception to completion.
