JOB DESCRIPTION A Traffic Management Officer (TMO) is responsible for developing and implementing Traffic Management Pians (TMPs) to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic around construction sites and roadworks. The role involves coordinating with engineers, project managers, and local authorities, overseeing the setup and maintenance of traffic control devices, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The TMO also responds to traffic- related incidents, provides safety briefings, and maintains accurate records of traffic management activities. Strong communication, coordination skills, and knowledge of Malaysian traffic regulations are essential, along with a relevant diploma or degree and TMO certification. JOB SCOPE 1. Review and Update Traffic Management Plans (TMPs): Review the current Traffic Management Plan for the day's activities and update it if necessary, considering any changes in the project or road conditions. 2. Site Inspections: Conduct early morning site inspections to ensure all traffic control devices (signs, cones, barriers) are correctly placed and in good condition. Check that all TMP measures are being followed on-site. 3. Coordination and Communication: Coordinate with site supervisors, contractors, and local authorities to discuss the day’s traffic management activities. Communicate with the public, local businesses, and stakeholders to inform them of any traffic disruptions or changes. 3. Monitoring Traffic Flow: Monitor traffic conditions throughout the day, identifying and addressing any issues that arise, such as congestion or accidents. Make real-time adjustments to traffic control measures as needed. 4. Safety Checks and Compliance: Conduct safety checks to ensure that traffic management practices comply with local regulations and safety standards. Provide safety briefings to on-site workers involved in traffic management. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Management, or a related field. 2. Additional training or coursework in traffic management is advantageous. 3. Good physical condition: The role may require working outdoors in various weather conditions. 4. Driving License: A valid Malaysian driving license is often required. 5. 2-3 years of experience in traffic management or a related field, such as construction or civil engineering. 6. Hands-on experience creating and implementing traffic management plans, and familiarity with local road regulations. 7. Strong understanding of local traffic regulations and safety standards. 8. Ability to design and implement traffic management plans. 9. Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with contractors, local authorities and the public. 10. Problem-solving skills to address and resolve traffic-related issues on-site.
