Job Summary: You will be responsible for the intricate and precise task of setting gemstones into various types of jewelry settings. Your expertise in identifying gemstones, understanding their characteristics, and knowledge of different setting techniques will play a crucial role in creating high-quality, aesthetically pleasing jewelry pieces. Additionally, the incumbent’s proficiency in handling prongs and knowledge of different types of gold will be essential in achieving exceptional craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Job Responsibilities: • Skillfully identify various gemstones, including diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and other precious and semi-precious stones. • Assess gemstone quality, including color, clarity, cut, and carat weight. • Have an in-depth understanding of the hardness and fragility of different gemstones to prevent damage during the setting process. • Demonstrate expertise in various setting techniques, such as pave setting, claw setting, channel setting, rubbed in setting, invisible setting, beads setting, micro pave settings, and micro settings. • Select the appropriate setting method based on the type of gemstone, jewelry design, and customer preferences. • Proficiently handle prongs, which are used to secure gemstones in place; Ensure prongs are accurately positioned and provide adequate support and security for the gemstone. • Knowledge of different types of gold used in jewelry making, including yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and other alloys. • Understand gold clarity and purity standards to ensure quality and durability in the final product. • Conduct thorough quality checks to verify that gemstones are securely set and aligned properly. • Inspect finished jewelry pieces for any defects or imperfections. • Work closely with jewelry designers, metalsmiths, and other team members to ensure that the setting complements the overall design and enhances the gemstone's beauty. • Adhere to safety protocols while handling gemstones, tools, and equipment. • Maintain and care for tools and equipment used in the setting process. • Perform any ad-hoc tasks that may be assigned by the management. Job Requirements: • Extensive experience as a professional gemstone setter or jewelry setting expert. • In-depth knowledge of gemstones, their characteristics, and identification methods. • Proficiency in various jewelry setting techniques, including pave setting, claw setting, and micro settings. • Understanding of gemstone hardness and the appropriate setting methods for different stones. • Familiarity with various types of gold used in jewelry making. • Attention to detail and a strong eye for aesthetics and precision. • Ability to work with different jewelry designs and adapt setting techniques accordingly. • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
