Senior Software Engineer - AS400 Developer Responsibilities: - Design and develop AS400 applications and systems based on business requirements. - Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in RPG (Report Program Generator) language. - Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure optimal performance and reliability. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions. - Integrate AS400 applications with other platforms and technologies as needed. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers. - Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). - Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with significant hands-on experience in AS400 development. - Expertise in RPG IV programming language and familiarity with CL (Control Language) scripting. - Strong understanding of AS400 system administration, including performance tuning and optimization. - Experience in designing and implementing AS400 applications that interface with external systems using APIs or web services. - Knowledge of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and tools (JIRA, Git). - Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. - Experience in the financial services, healthcare, or manufacturing industries (preferred). Preferred Skills: - Knowledge of DB2/400 database management system. - Familiarity with modernization techniques for AS400 applications (e.g., refactoring, migration to newer platforms). - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
