Position Summary

We are looking for a Commercial Development Manager to Develop the Category agenda for all trade channels including E-commerce to support long term Category growth and profitably increase market share based on shopper and customer requirements.


A day in the life of a Commercial Development Manager

  • Accountable & Responsible for driving the Commercial Planning (ICP) process by identifying the key opportunities (incorporating understanding on shoppers, category, customer, competition, channel and external environment) and develop a commercial activity calendar for the Category.
  • Accountable & Responsible for defining strategies and plans that deliver Category/ sub Category growth based on consumer, shopper and customer requirements (including E-commerce)
  • Accountable & Responsible for identifying priority channels for the Category/ sub Category and work with Channel Managers to recommend tailored Category Channel plans in line with overall market strategy.
  • Accountable and Responsible for developing the in-store vision of success (Perfect Store) for the Category/ subcategory in each channel. Recommends actionable in-store solutions to support in-store vision. Supports its implementation and continuously review the effectiveness of our in-store actions.
  • Accountable and Responsible for monitoring promotional trends, initiatives and competitor actions by Category/ subcategory, priority channels and strategic customers. Identify and recommend promotional opportunities.
  • Accountable and Responsible for recommending clear promotional guidelines based on shopper understanding and current market knowledge. Ensure promotional investment is properly evaluated.
  • Accountable for proposing optimal Total Trade Spent (TTS) budgets for category by channel based on ICP. Ensure all TTS investment is properly reviewed and evaluated.
  • Accountable for collaborating with Brand Team in developing an optimum pricing strategy that fulfills shopper and trade/customer expectations.
  • Accountable and Responsible for preparing and implementing new product trade launch plan and conducting pre and post evaluation.
  • Accountable and Responsible for recommending winning commercial propositions for the category, effectively communicating these to Customer Team and Sales Operation team as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to all company principles and policies.


What will make you successful

  • Bachelors Graduate with 5+ years’ experience in Trade Marketing and/or Marketing with Sales experience
  • Demonstrable record of success in a customer (not limited to Key Accounts) facing role. Understands customers and the selling process.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Problem-solving attitude, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Analytical, data driven mindset and detail oriented.
  • Successfully led a team of direct reports.
