Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving sales and margin targets set in the category sales and margin plans.
  • Support in developing layout plans for designated fast-moving goods categories.
  • Aid in tracking stock delivery to ensure timely arrival and maintain quality standards.
  • Assist in nurturing strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Gain exposure to store operations, including planning, sales promotions, and merchandising displays, and provide support as needed.
  • Assist in the development of convenience retailing programs, offers, and strategies to address customer needs.
  • Assist in analyzing the competitor market, pricing, and market demand.
  • Stay updated on market trends and customer demands to contribute to the creation of effective promotion and marketing strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and policies, supporting the Category Manager in this regard.
  • Perform assigned ad-hoc tasks to support the smooth functioning of category management operations.

You should have:

  • A minimum of SPM or equivalent qualification. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Marketing, or Supply Chain Management may be preferred.
  • Proficiency in Malay, English, and Mandarin languages to effectively communicate with suppliers, colleagues, and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, track stock levels, and ensure timely delivery of stocks.
  • Awareness of market trends, competitor analysis, and understanding of customer demands to inform merchandising and promotional strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within the team and across departments.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work on ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
  • Prior experience in retail, buying, or related fields can be an advantage, demonstrating familiarity with store operations and merchandising concepts.
