Chemistry/Biology Teacher

Job Description: We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Chemistry/Biology Teacher to join our vibrant team at Eagles Grammar International School. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons in Biology, with a focus on the IGCSE curriculum. This role is ideal for an educator who is committed to inspiring young minds, fostering a love for science, and promoting critical thinking and inquiry-based learning. Key Responsibilities: 1. Teaching Responsibilities - Plan and conduct stimulating and interactive Chemistry/Biology lessons aligned with the IGCSE curriculum to ensure student engagement and understanding. - Equip students with the knowledge and exam techniques necessary to excel in their IGCSE Chemistry/Biology exams. - Promote scientific inquiry and hands-on learning experiences, using lab activities and experiments to enhance understanding of biological concepts. - Ensuring appropriate resources and consultation times are available to students. 2. Laboratory Management - Organise and supervise lab-based lessons, ensuring students can safely engage in experiments that reinforce theoretical knowledge. - Maintain a safe lab environment by overseeing the proper handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory materials. - Ensure equipment is properly maintained and readily available for lessons. 3. Assessment and Evaluation - Use both formative and summative assessments to gauge students' understanding, providing constructive feedback and support to guide their improvement. - Develop and administer regular quizzes, tests, and assignments to assess students’ understanding of core concepts and identify areas needing reinforcement. - Regularly communicate students’ progress to parents and guardians through formal reports and informal updates, fostering a supportive learning community. 4. Administration - Review and assess exam papers and assessments. - Ensuring an up-to-date student record (marks, attendance, performance feedback etc) is maintained. - Support clear and open communication with parents and guardians, addressing any academic or behavioural concerns in a timely, professional manner. 5. Other Responsibilities - Assist in school marketing and publicity activities. - Attending staff and parent meetings, conferences, workshops, and other internal and external continuing professional development programs. - Supporting student activities including extracurricular activities and any other activities as required by the management. - Maintain professional and timely communication through official platforms with all stakeholders at all times. - Able to positively collaborate and contribute in a professional capacity in any duties set by the management. - Assume any other role as and when necessary. Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Biology or a related discipline. - Relevant certification may be required. - Proven experience teaching Biology at the secondary level. - Strong familiarity with the IGCSE curriculum and exam requirements. - Effective classroom management and organisational skills for handling academic and administrative tasks. - Excellent communication skills for building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. - Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations. - Ability to inspire and motivate students. - Strong multitasking skills. - The ability to teach additional subjects at the secondary level is a significant advantage.
