Job Summary:
A Dessert Chef is responsible for creating and preparing a wide range of delectable desserts. This role requires a strong understanding of culinary techniques, flavor combinations, and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, creative, and detail-oriented.
Key Responsibilities:
Dessert Menu Development:
- Develop innovative and seasonal dessert menus.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create complementary dessert pairings.
- Stay up-to-date with current food trends and dietary preferences.
Dessert Preparation:
- Prepare a variety of desserts, including pastries, cakes, tarts, and ice creams.
- Ensure that all desserts are prepared according to recipes and meet quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of recipes, ingredients, and production costs.
Plating and Presentation:
- Create visually appealing dessert presentations that enhance the dining experience.
- Pay attention to detail, ensuring that each dessert is plated perfectly.
Team Management:
- Lead and supervise a team of pastry chefs and kitchen staff.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training.
- Maintain a positive and efficient work environment.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Place orders for necessary items.
- Minimize food waste and optimize inventory costs.
Food Safety and Hygiene:
- Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Culinary degree or diploma.
- Proven experience as a pastry chef or dessert chef.
- Strong understanding of baking and pastry techniques.
- Creative flair and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food cost control and inventory management.
- Ability to taste and adjust flavors to perfection.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM2,800.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
