Senior Lecturer

Senior Lecturer General Responsibilities Teaching Provide high-quality teaching delivery in undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the department. Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, design comprehensive assessments, and facilitate meaningful classroom discussions. Course Development Lead the development and continuous improvement of course syllabi, materials, and instructional resources, ensuring they meet academic standards and align with the overall curriculum. Student Support and Mentorship Offer academic advising and support to students, providing guidance on coursework, career pathways, and addressing academic concerns. Mentor students in their research projects and initiatives, fostering their academic and professional growth. Teaching Requirements Course Load Typically responsible for teaching 2-3 courses per semester, which may encompass both undergraduate and graduate-level classes. Course Development Design and regularly update course content, assignments, and assessments, utilizing diverse teaching methods and technologies to enhance student learning experiences. Student Interaction Engage proactively with students through lectures, seminars, and office hours, fostering a supportive learning environment. Research Expectations Publications Pursue publication in reputable, high-ranking journals and develop a robust research agenda that contributes significantly to the field. Grants and Funding Actively apply for research grants and funding opportunities, establishing a network of collaborators and funding sources. Research Development Establish and lead a research program that demonstrates the potential for impactful contributions to the field. Service Duties Departmental Service Participate actively in departmental meetings and initiatives, contributing to curriculum development and review processes. University Service Engage in university-wide service activities, including committee work, event participation, and supporting broader academic initiatives. Professional Engagement Maintain active involvement in professional organisations and academic conferences relevant to the discipline, promoting ongoing professional development. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Computing or a related field AND PhD degree in the relevant area Experience Demonstrated excellence in teaching and proficiency in the subject area. Significant experience in course development and fostering student engagement is highly desirable. Skills Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students effectively. Proficiency in utilizing educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
