Objectives of the position

The Smart Maintenance Suite (SMS)’s vision is to enable plant maintenance excellence globally in BASF. The product aims to improve overall work productivity of plant maintenance workers through a simplified user interface.

We are looking for a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Azure DevOps, expertise in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and experience managing databases like MongoDB. You will work closely with development, operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and operations of our applications and services.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage Azure DevOps environments, ensuring seamless integration with development workflows.
• Build and maintain infrastructure and application deployment pipelines using Azure Pipelines.
• Create and manage scalable CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring for applications.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes.
• Oversee the use and maintenance of JFrog Artifactory for artifact storage, ensuring secure and efficient management of application packages and binaries.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and high availability of microservices by leveraging Kubernetes best practices.
• Manage and optimize MongoDB instances, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
• Work with cross-functional teams (development, QA, operations) to ensure effective collaboration across the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure that security practices and policies are followed within DevOps pipelines and environments and oversee the management of key vaults.
• Use Datadog for monitoring application performance, infrastructure health, and logs to ensure proactive detection and resolution of issues.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, informatics, business informatics or in a comparable field
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer
• Strong Experience with Kubernetes for orchestrating containers in a production environment
• Proficiency in managing and optimizing MongoDB databases
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and drive technical initiatives.
• Experience in Agile ways of working
• Comfortable working in a multinational / culturally diverse environment
