Job Summary:
We are looking for a competent Restaurant Server to take and deliver orders for our restaurant. Your goal will be to provide high-quality service that will help us maintain and attract customers. Server responsibilities include greeting and serving customers, providing detailed information on menus, multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties and collecting the bill. If you are able to perform well in fast-paced environments, we’d like to meet you. To be successful in this role, you should be polite with our customers and make sure they enjoy their meals. This role also includes the opportunity of further advancement to Service Captain for our restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Service Preparation
- Preparing restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order
- Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware and glasses
- Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
- Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
- Responsible for clearing, collecting and returning food and beverage items to proper area
2. Front-of-House Service
- Attending to customers upon entrance to the restaurant
- Presenting menus, serving and helping customers select food/beverages (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
- Answer questions or make recommendations for complementary products
- Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff in communicating order details and any other service needs to ensure that the restaurant achieves its full potential.
- Issue bills and accept payment
- Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software ,order slips or by memorization
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate
- Provide excellent customer service to guests
- Speak with guests and staff using clear and professional language
- Perform shift closing on the Point of Sales terminal and tally cash and credit card settlements.
- Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
- Completes the daily responsibilities that are set for each individual shift.
3. Service Management & Quality Control
- Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude
- Able to anticipate any unexpected guest need and reacts promptly and tactfully
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding any menu questions, the length of wait and product availability
- Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
- Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
- Follow all relevant health department regulations
- Ensures that the restaurant is always kept clean and organized, both at the front as well as the back of house areas
- Ensures that brand standards and SOP's are consistently implemented
- Conducts monthly inventory checks on all operating equipment and supplies.
- Take an active role in coaching and developing junior staff
- To have report and communicate well with Managers in order to smooth restaurant operations
Qualifications:
- Proven restaurant serving or waitering experience.
- Hands-on experience in cashier duties
- Attention to cleanliness and safety
- Patience and customer-oriented approach
- Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude
- Responsible and trustworthy
- High school diploma is a plus but not required
[RM2500 – RM3,000] based on experience
