Senior Database Administrator (DBA)

MobilityOne is the purveyor of a banking, merchant and consumer solution that it has developed and deployed in-house. The company is now looking at expanding the team to cope for the business expansion. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our databases, ensuring their performance, availability, and security. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of database management systems and have a proven track record of managing large-scale databases in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities:  Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability and performance. Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related products. Monitor and optimize database performance, including tuning queries, indexing, and storage.  Data Security and Backup: Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures to protect data integrity and confidentiality. Develop and manage database backup and recovery strategies. Perform regular security assessments and audits to ensure database integrity and security. Ethically handling private data, including financial, personal, transactional data.  Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve database-related issues. Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet application requirements. Diagnose and resolve database performance issues, including analyzing system logs and identifying potential problems.  Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine database tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and maintenance. Implement automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.  Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies. Generate and analyze reports on database performance, usage, and trends. Provide recommendations for database improvements and capacity planning.  Leadership and Mentoring: Mentor and provide guidance to junior database administrators and other technical staff. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure best practices are applied. Requirements:  Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Science & Technology or equivalent.  Experience with Windows operating systems.  Proficient in RDBMS, especially MSSQL server and MySQL  Experience with non-RDBMS is an added advantage  Ability to meet customer and user expectations.  Excellent communication in English.
