In house Lawyer cum HR
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile In-House Lawyer cum HR Manager to provide both legal and human resource support within the company. This dual role combines legal expertise in corporate, labor, and compliance matters with the management of HR functions, ensuring the smooth operation of both legal and HR-related activities in alignment with company policies and Malaysian law. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both legal and HR matters, with the ability to handle a broad spectrum of responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Risk Management:
- Provide legal advice to senior management on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify potential legal risks and advise on mitigation strategies to minimize legal exposure.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Advise the company on labor law matters, including employee contracts, terminations, dispute resolution, and compliance with the Employment Act 1955 and other relevant laws.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
- Manage and resolve any disputes or litigation involving the company, including engaging external legal counsel when necessary.
- Oversee legal proceedings, including preparation of documents and participation in hearings, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of matters.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the company’s compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations, including those related to corporate governance, tax, intellectual property, and labor laws.
- Monitor and provide updates on changes to legislation that may impact the company’s legal obligations.
Intellectual Property & Contract Management:
- Advise on intellectual property rights and manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts related to corporate transactions, partnerships, and licensing agreements.
Human Resource Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & Compliance:
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including grievances, disputes, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysia’s labor laws, including the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
- Advise management on employee rights, legal obligations, and best practices in handling HR-related issues.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Oversee recruitment processes, including job postings, interviews, and hiring decisions.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements in the recruitment process.
- Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary training, documentation, and introductions.
Performance Management & Employee Development:
- Develop and implement employee performance management systems, including appraisals, feedback, and development plans.
- Coordinate training and development programs to enhance employee skills and compliance with company policies.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Oversee the administration of compensation and benefits packages, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements (e.g., EPF, SOCSO, EIS).
- Advise on salary structures, benefits plans, and remuneration strategies to attract and retain talent.
HR Policies & Documentation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in accordance with Malaysian employment laws and best practices.
- Ensure that employee contracts, handbooks, and other HR documentation comply with relevant laws and internal company policies.
Employee Well-Being & Engagement:
- Support employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Oversee employee welfare programs and ensure the workplace is aligned with employee well-being and legal requirements.
General Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Finance, Operations) to ensure alignment between legal and HR policies and company operations.
- Manage legal and HR records in a secure and confidential manner.
- Provide regular reports on legal and HR matters to senior management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
