(i) Position: Medical Officer – Clinical & Community Health Services

Responsibilities

i) Supervise or coordinate the work of the community health team and on-site care delivery service including physicians, nurses, or other professional staff members.

ii) Lead or work together in preventive medicine programmes including in identification of groups at risk for specific preventable diseases, design or use surveillance tools, such as screening, lab reports, and vital records, to identify health risks and develop health assessment methods or programs.

iii) Lead or work together in teaching or training health professionals regarding preventive medicine issues.

iv) Coordinate or integrate the resources of health care institutions, social service agencies, public safety workers, or other organizations to improve the community health.

v) Actively be involved in health systems research including in analysis of quantitative data to determine effectiveness of treatments or therapies, prescribed risk reduction measures or other interventions as well as to develop and/or implement interventions to address behavioural causes of diseases

vi) Lead or work together in designing, implementing, or evaluating health service delivery systems to improve the health of targeted populations.

vii) Provide information about potential health hazards and possible interventions to the media, the public, other health care professionals, or local, state, and federal health authorities as well as to communicate health and wellness information to the public.

viii) Manage on-site and off-site healthcare operations, including direct healthcare delivery programs and public health education programmes dealing with a variety of issues.

vix) Evaluate, compile and disseminate health education material in appropriate manner to targeted community groups and through designated communication channels; including in terms of policy shaping activities, medical writing, media communications and peer-reviewed publications.

Requirements

i) Fully Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council and have a valid APC

ii) Minimum 4 years of working experience

iii) Has a post-graduate degree in Community Medicine or Public Health; or a background of working in Community Health, Public Health; or experience working in the community level with non-governmental organisations (NGOs)

iv) Good interpersonal, persuasive and communication skills

v) Able to work independently as well as effectively in a team

vi) Able to travel as part of official work duties

vii) Able to work flexi-hours, with certain duties arising outside working hours when required.

viii) Versatile, willing to learn on-the-job, think creatively for ‘real-world’ problem solving and empathy for dealing with patients, families and the community.

ix) Willing to travel to neighboring states
