Your primary responsibility is to oversee the procurement process for materials and services required for the construction, maintenance, and operation of railway tracks. You will ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials while adhering to industry standards and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet the needs of railway track construction, maintenance, and operation projects. • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery timelines. • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions. • Coordinate with engineering and project management teams to identify procurement requirements and specifications. • Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with contractual obligations. • Manage inventory levels to optimize stock availability while minimizing excess inventory costs. • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting procurement activities. • Provide guidance and support to junior procurement staff members. • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, including cost savings initiatives, supplier performance, and risk assessments. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency in the procurement function. • Assist in the resolution of procurement-related issues and disputes. • Support emergency procurement needs during unexpected events or project delays. • Participate in supplier audits and site visits as required. • Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by senior management. Requirements & Skills • Strong understanding of procurement principles, practices, and procedures. • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. • Proficiency in contract management and vendor relationship management. • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality. • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems. • Knowledge of railway track materials, construction methods, and industry regulations is preferred. • Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and motivate team members. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
