Job description

The IT System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the company’s IT infrastructure. This includes the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of hardware, software, and networking systems to ensure optimal performance and security. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to IT management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. System Management:

  • Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows, Linux) and server environments (physical and virtual).
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor system performance, ensuring high levels of availability and reliability.
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup solutions, performing regular backups and ensuring data integrity and recoverability.
  • System Updates: Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities as necessary.

2. Application Management:

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor performance, identify Application bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues to maintain optimal health.
  • Security Management: Implement application security measures and ensure compliance with security policies, procedures, and industries best practices.
  • Incident Response: Respond to and resolve application security breaches and other incidents promptly.

3. User Support:

  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to developers & end-users for applications/software related issues.
  • Account Management: Manage repositories user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and efficient user operations.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and user guides for IT INFRA systems and procedures.

4. Security and Compliance:

  • Policy Implementation: Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and procedures for systems
  • Compliance: Ensure systems comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Security Audits: Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential threats.

5. Project Management:

  • Project Planning: Lead and participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors and service providers for procurement, support, and service agreements.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new technologies and solutions to improve IT infrastructure and operational efficiency.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide tailored solutions.

6. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on IT systems, including updates, patches, and optimizations.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing fixes.
  • System Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Asset Management: Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Redhat Certified System Administrators) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in system administration, network management, or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills:

- Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.

- Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

- Networking: Strong knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

- Security: Experience with network security tools and practices.

- Cloud Services: Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure. GCP) and SaaS applications.

- Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Predominantly office-based
  • Availability to work outside regular business hours, including nights and weekends, for system maintenance, upgrades, or emergency support.
  • Willingness to travel to company locations or data centres as needed for installations, maintenance, or support tasks.
