Purpose / Mission:

The Senior Manager, FSQA Operations, will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality across all stages of production. This role will oversee raw material receiving compliance, operational Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety compliance, finished goods check compliance, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements within the food industry.

Major Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Raw Material Receiving Compliance:

  • Oversee the inspection and verification of all incoming raw materials to ensure they meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement procedures for raw material receiving to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to resolve any compliance issues and ensure continuous improvement.

Operation GMP and Food Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that all operational processes adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any non-compliance issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on GMP and food safety protocols.

Finished Goods Check Compliance:

  • Oversee the quality assurance processes for finished goods to ensure they meet all quality and safety standards.
  • Implement and maintain procedures for finished goods inspection and testing.
  • Collaborate with production teams to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Regulation Compliance:

  • Ensure that all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety and quality.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry standards and implement necessary adjustments to company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections and audits.
  • Maintains strong regulatory relationships with respective Government authorities.
  • Act as an influencer urging government response in timely manner to all critical FSQA related matters.
  • In coordination with Tyson APAC LT and Corporate Director, Global Regulatory Affairs, establishes and maintains appropriate knowledge of legal and regulatory structure in all countries in which we make, sell, or distribute.

FSQA Strategy Execution:

  • Support the execution of FSQA strategies, meeting operational expectations and activity timeframes.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant food safety standards, quality expectations, and required policies and procedures in the facility.
  • Manage and monitor the effectiveness of the FSQA Management system implemented.

Operational Improvement:

  • Identify potential problems with operations and develop ways to improve processing.
  • Collaborate with operations and innovation teams to provide guidance on trials, food safety compliance, quality assessment, and shelf-life analysis.
  • Interact with Commercial and Innovation teams for customer product showings, plant tours, and audits.

Team Management and Development:

  • Coordinate training, manage and develop FSQA team members, and assess competency.
  • Ensure all new product food safety programs, including sanitation and new equipment, are approved.

Quality and Traceability Improvement:

  • Manage and ensure improvements in first-pass quality and traceability, reduce complaints, improve team member engagement, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Operational Best Practices:

  • Promote and implement operational best practices, projects, and advancements in conjunction with the regional/global Transformation team.

Data Capture and Analysis:

  • Oversee and monitor real-time capture of data and operations compliance using RedZone, providing analysis and improvement opportunities.

Occupational Health & Safety / Environmental Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for adhering to the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • In conjunction with the Production Supervisors, responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety aspects of the production personnel.
  • Responsible for reporting any non-conforming safety matters immediately to their immediate Manager/Supervisor, Production Manager and People and Safety Manager or Safety Representative
  • Participate in investigating non-conformances against the Occupational Health & Safety Program.
  • Responsible for reporting any non-conforming environmental matters immediately to their immediate Manager and Systems Compliance Officer / QA Manager
  • Participate in investigating non-conformances against the Environmental Program within their department and production area.

Food Safety Responsibility:

  • Follow all policies and procedures on Food Safety, Quality, and GMP
  • Follow company guidelines to ensure food safety and hygiene are being followed
  • Escalate any food safety and quality concerns to your relevant supervisors or QA supervisor
  • Take all reasonable measures to maintain food integrity

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of business experience, preferably in managing FSQA
  • Experienced in leading cross-functional teams and initiatives.
