We are inviting applications from suitably qualified Primary Learning Support Teacher to join our outstanding team immediately.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teaching & Learning
Deliver tailored learning support programmes to a range of students with diverse learning needs
Differentiate work as necessary to meet the differing ability needs of all children
Acknowledge that English is not necessarily the native language of all children and adapt vocabulary accordingly
Ensure that all work is marked meaningfully, promptly and clearly and that corrections are undertaken where necessary
Be prepared to be visited and observed by colleagues from across the school.
- Planning
Prepare learning support programme appropriately for the short, medium and long term
Collaborate with other teachers in planning to ensure continuity and progression
Participate in the development and review of learning support programmes in collaboration with the line managers.
Participate in the development and review of school policies where necessary Assessment
Provide information on each child’s progress in learning support programmes at the end of each term
Continuously assess each student so as to be able to clearly justify and substantiate grades, levels or comments provided.
To keep clear records of any levels, grades or marks attained by each child in classroom
tests/assessments
Support the Head of Learning Support to undertake formal learning support assessments with individual students
- Classroom Management
Ensure that the classroom atmosphere is conducive to learning
Provide an environment in which the children feel safe, confident and happy to learn
Have displays that stimulate learning
Ensure that children are not left unsupervised in classrooms during lesson time or at break time
Ensure that children are collected from their classrooms and returned at the end of each lesson
Insist on good levels of behaviour, both in and out of the classroom
- General: Learning Support
To liaise with the Head of Learning Support in relation to the job role.
To contribute to reviews of relevant documentation in relation to individual students, such as Student Passports and IEPs.
To identify personal training needs, and attend relevant courses and learning activities in order to update knowledge as required.
- General: Whole School
Supervise children in the play areas at break times according to the duty rota
To support implementation of school policies, procedures and ethos, including those relating to
confidentiality and behaviour.
Serve as a role model to the children in terms of behaviour, dress, attitude and manners
Participate in the Extra Curricular Activities programme.
Be available to attend and participate in extracurricular events in the school calendar such as Parents’ Evenings, Concerts, etc.
Actively support the ethos of the school
Be familiar with the Handbook for Families, with Staff Supplement.
Actively support and adhere to the Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy, including
attending annual training.
Any other tasks requested by the school leadership that falls within the remit of
the post.
Job Requirements:
Possess at least a Diploma in Education / Special Needs / Early Childhood Education etc.
At least 2 years experience in related field (experience working in an International School
environment is desired (yet not essential).
Possess good supervisory skills and able to communicate well at all levels.
Able to work independently and as a team.
Must be able to support the aims and ethos of the School.
Must set a good example in dress, punctuality, attendance and other areas.
