  • Applicants for the position should:
    Have experience of working with SEN students across all ages from 3-18 years old.
    Have a strong understanding of the Team around the Child (TAC) and student health
    approach.
    Have experience of collaborative individual learning and need including internal
    stakeholder and external agencies for Student Health.
    Have effective experience of team leadership.
    Have high expectations and promote the school's vision, mission and core values.
    Provide leadership and direction in meeting the needs of children with SEN.
    Provide guidance to the support staff to ensure a high-quality SEN provision.
    Analyse assessment data to inform future school planning and resourcing.
    Possess a recognized teaching qualification with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Leadership and Management
    To project, develop and manage the provision for Team around the Child (TAC).
    To develop an internal network working alongside and guiding the collaboration of
    Safeguarding, EAL, Counselling and Learning Support for students with individual needs.
    To liaise with the Head of Learning Support to provide whole school support and enhance
    Primary SENCO provision.
  • Administration and Communication
    To write relevant reports and share with teachers as required across the whole school.
    To collaborate in the writing and updating of relevant school policies.
    To actively make and maintain links with external support agencies.
    To develop and engage all aspects of the student support and safeguarding internal
    agencies to ensure fair and collaborative input with a TAC focus.
    Main Responsibilities:
    Develop, oversee, embed and promote a centralised Student Health Provision which
    draws together all aspects of student support and TAC including parent liaison.
    Use data as a means of tracking progress, setting targets and assessing student needs.
    Liaise with the Head of Learning Support, EAL teachers and the school counsellors as
    necessary to ensure effective support is provided for those students who need it.
    Develop clear systems for identifying students who may benefit from support.
    Continually assess and review the SEN provision, seeking ways to improve.
    Monitor the students on the SEN register; add/remove/amend as necessary.
    Liaise with teachers to set specific targets for SEN students (e.g., IEP, Action Plan, BMP).
    Meet with parents to discuss support programmes.
    Regularly update the Head of Primary and liaise with the Head of Learning Support on
    SEN students and the provision offered.
    Encourage all staff to recognise their responsibilities to SEN students.
    Provide training for Staff to learn more about whole school student health.
    Advise the PLT on resources needed to improve the SEN provision.
    Work with the PLT and SLT on developing the effectiveness of transition arrangements
    for SEN students progressing to Early Years, Primary and Secondary.
    Keep abreast of developments in SEN/G&T and inform staff as necessary.
    Comply with any reasonable requests made by the school management.
