IT Backup Operation Support Resident Engineer

  • · Provide maintenance and support of the backup systems as required to support day-today operation.
  • · Manage and monitoring daily backup/restore operation and system/backup health status.
  • · Act as backup admin (production and DR)
  • · Report error encounter to respective support team, escalate critical issue to manager.
  • · Manage all call log from the beginning until the closure.
  • · Track and record all incident reported and create report to present to management on weekly or monthly basis.
  • · Performs basic software/hardware troubleshooting, patches and re-installations in cooperation with the Admin teams and in accordance with the change control process.
  • · Responsible for local inventory, maintenance, and license management
  • · Responsible for creation and maintenance of published documentation such as operations manuals, rack diagrams and photos, floorplans, and contact information.
  • To respond and manage daily IT backup/restore operation related problem calls and requests within SLO/SLA.
  • To recommend solutions to meet short and long-range goals after reviewing and analysing the daily and backlog problem calls for call trends.
  • To proactively monitor and keep track DC backup environment installed with the latest patches, so as to prevent any backup/restore break down.
  • To design and deploy new policy, rules for backup/restore operational needs of the company, comply with company policy and compliance.
  • To project and manage the backup deployment, inclusive of planning, scheduling, developing test plans, configuring, staging (testing), implementing and the generating necessary documentation.
  • To oversee the proper hand over of project deliverables and sign-off the acceptance document.
  • Understand and adhere to the ITIS Policy and Procedure.
  • To recommend solutions to meet short and long-range goals after reviewing and analysing the daily and backlog problem calls for call trends.
  • Support recovery in the event of system failure or disaster and involved in disaster recovery activity.

Requirements
  • • A fast learner with a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network, or related disciplines
  • • Minimum of 2 years’ working experience in IT/Broadcast with experience in backup operation, prefer with Commvault system experience
  • • Familiar with IT backup operation and backup tool knowledge, basic troubleshooting on backup tool.
  • • Have hands-on experience in DB2 will be added advantage.
  • • Experience in managing IT backup/restore issue, issue escalation process, managing day to day backup/restore operation is an added advantage.
  • • Able to understand failure mechanisms of complex backup/restore systems.
  • • Effectively apply communication skills to build and maintain internal relationships.
  • • Must be willing to work on irregular hours or on weekends to complete critical assignments.
  • • Able to work effectively under pressure.
