Job Summary:

To be responsible for the timely and effective completion of all specific instrumentation engineering activities assigned and to ensure that quality of the work meets the required standards

Responsibilities:

  • To take a senior role and supervise instrument engineers in the instrumentation and automation activities or take the role of Lead Instrument Engineer on nominated projects.
  • To assume responsibility for the assigned work and report progress of assigned work to the Design Lead Instrument Engineer, who is responsible for reporting overall progress to project department.
  • To prepare Instrumentation specification for all instruments, controls and systems equipment assigned to him on a project.
  • To size all instrumentation, controls, equipment and in-line instrument components such as DCS systems, SDS systems, FGS systems, control valves, safety valves and primary Flow Elements and metering systems.
  • To coordinate drafting activities with the drafting coordinator and lead designers.
  • To liaise with the client for the assigned work activity and keep the Design Lead Instrument Engineer fully informed.
  • To keep abreast with the company's latest quality assurance procedures and ensure that they are being followed.
  • To maintain filing systems of all documentation pertinent to the design for final submission to the client upon project completion.
  • To write instrument requisitions from data supplied by the process department.
  • To analyse vendor quotations, make recommendations on bid tabulations and write purchase order requisitions for the selected instruments.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in the Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering from recognised university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas design engineering with 3 years as Lead discipline Engineer.
  • Registered with BEM.
  • Management skill and experience is required.
  • Having thorough working knowledge of codes and practices applicable to the design, and familiar with software used for related analysis and design activities.
