JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Oversee a team of maintenance personnel responsible for repairing and maintaining highways, roads, bridges, and associated infrastructure.
  • Coordinate all maintenance operations, including repairing pavements, patching potholes, controlling roadside vegetation, and installing signage.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and standards during maintenance activities.
  • Regularly inspect highways and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs.
  • Develop comprehensive maintenance schedules and efficiently allocate resources to ensure timely project completion.
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by maintenance crews and offer feedback and guidance as necessary.
  • Collaborate with various departments and agencies, such as engineering, traffic management, and environmental services, to address maintenance issues and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment usage, and material inventory.
  • Provide training and mentorship to maintenance staff on proper techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, including accidents, hazardous spills, or severe weather events, to safeguard the safety and integrity of the highway system.
  • Supervise subcontracted work on site, ensuring its evaluation and verification.
  • Manage and verify all repair and replacement work conducted by subcontractors.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving subcontractor work programs for routine maintenance projects.
  • Ensure strict compliance with OSHA requirements on site.
  • Undertake any additional duties, tasks, or responsibilities assigned by superiors.


Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience working in highway maintenance or a related field, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to highway maintenance.
