Job Responsibilities:

Category Strategy Development & Execution:

  • Lead the development and execution of a category strategy by working with business stakeholders and global / regional procurement colleagues.
  • To gain a deep understanding of the business requirements, value chain, total costs, risks and opportunities in order to be able to challenge and deliver value improvements.
  • Bring knowledge of suppliers and supply market expertise to the business, including identification and development of innovations.
  • Plan and execute the procurement activity using B. Braun’s ‘Source to Contract’ process leading competitive tenders and / or negotiations for formal as well as ad hoc activities as required.

Supplier Management & Supplier Risk Management:

  • Take responsibility for supplier management, implementing supplier business reviews and other means of driving supplier performance in sustainable, systematic ways.
  • Work with business stakeholders for the development and deployment of appropriate supplier performance targets and KPIs.
  • Ensure suppliers have the capacity, financial stability, quality & technical capabilities to meet business requirements and put in place supplier development/ risk mitigation plans as appropriate.

Operations, Reporting & Governance:

  • Operationally responsible for managing the Purchase Requisition process and approvals for the category in line with company policies and requirements.
  • Accountable for cost savings and value creation in line with annual targets.
  • Whilst functionally reporting through the procurement organization, the Category Manager must work in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with integrity and B. Braun’s code of conduct.

Projects & assignments:

  • Challenge sourcing activities, processes and existing practices to identify and implement value engineering and / or operational excellence, process improvement as well as new sourcing opportunities.
  • Take initiative and be willing to lead or support improvement projects in the function and business.

Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Engineering/ Sciences preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in category management for direct materials procurement, preferably in a highly-regulated industry and MNC environment.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement processes, internal business requirements and market dynamics with strong supplier sourcing background.
  • Strong analytical problem solver with demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment while working independently to resolve critical issues.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to work well in a high-paced, dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure task completion timely.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, internal business customers, and senior management.
