Position Title: Head of Plant Engineering and Maintenance (Assistant General Manager)

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and take care of all plant machinery and equipment.
  • To lead and plant set-up/improve plant preventive maintenance systems.
  • To ensure all plant machinery is well maintained by the maintenance department.
  • To improve plant machinery reliability and efficiency.
  • To bring down the cost of maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor and drive improvements in machinery performance.
  • Provide engineering support for modifications to machinery equipment and new installations, including reviewing and approving changes, developing engineering specifications/requirements, conducting or participating in design reviews, and supporting testing and commissioning.
  • Manage and control the maintenance strategy on a day-to-day basis, including routine, special and shutdown period maintenance, and to develop and implement capital activities. Identity areas for engineering and financial improvement and enable their inception while maintaining an appropriate level of availability and reliability of equipment (Asset Life Cycle Management).
  • Participate in activities related to safety and risk assessment and in safety incident investigations related to machinery equipment and control system.
  • Develop/implement innovative solutions to non-routine problems by leading teams in resolving technical challenges and expanding sphere of influence beyond core technical discipline.
  • Charter, track metrics for, and lead continuous improvement efforts and
  • Reliability-Centred-Maintenance/ Equipment Reliability aspects. Create and maintain relationships with other sites to develop and promote best practices. Uphold, define and monitor safety procedures and safe practices. Ensure the safe and effective introduction of new equipment, capital expenditure and process improvement technologies.
  • Directs investigations into equipment failures and implements changes to avoid future occurrences. Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of engineering in order to meet agreed departmental objectives.
  • Mentor inexperienced engineers to develop skills, and provide technical leadership (formal or informal) in operations and small local projects.
  • Provides supervision and direction to plant engineering staff with focus on execution and prioritisation of daily activities, monitoring performance against goals, career development, and staff recruitment to support plant engineering activities.
  • Utilise depth and/or breadth of experience to identify cross-functional business opportunities and participate in internal company networks to share knowledge and practices to the benefit of others.
  • Any other task and/or assigned duties as required by the management.

Qualifications & Experiences Needed

  • Master/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering.
  • Strong knowledge in machinery/equipment preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to provide expertise, advice, guidance around operation and enhancements of FUME(Facility, Utility, Maintenance and Equipment) assets and systems.
  • High level of expertise in plant engineering methods, theory, and principles from a design, construction and compliance perspective.
  • Practical knowledge and application of GMP and OSHA regulations and experience with regulatory investigations.
  • Strong background in maintenance best practices and equipment reliability.
  • Practical knowledge of CMMS system, Delta-V, P&ID’s and SOPs.
  • Experience more than 10-15 years working as Engineering Manager in an engineering or manufacturing company.
  • People management experience with skills leading, developing and training a technically diverse team.
  • Strong leadership skills, result oriented, good problem solving and reporting skills, analytical skills, critical thinking skills and good communication skills.

Pay: RM15,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
