A lorry driver, also known as a heavy truck driver, is responsible for transporting goods, liquids, and heavy materials using a heavy motor vehicle. Their duties include:

  • Driving: Safely driving the vehicle and respecting road regulations and other road users
  • Loading and unloading: Assisting with or carrying out loading and unloading operations
  • Route planning: Planning the most efficient route from pickup to drop off point
  • Delivery schedule: Keeping to a schedule and meeting delivery schedules
  • Vehicle condition: Ensuring the vehicle is mechanically sound and legally roadworthy
  • Maintenance & PUSPAKOM inspection : Performing basic repairs and maintenance on the vehicle, and arranging major maintenance and repairs
  • Goods condition: Ensuring the goods are properly stowed and that the quality and integrity of the goods are preserved during transport
  • Transport documents: Completing transport documents correctly and handing them over to the dispatcher and customers
  • Vehicle log book: Updating the vehicle log book, recording deliveries, and tracking mileage
  • Regulations: Complying with all MOT and in-house regulations and rules
  • A valid lorry driving license, such as a GDL license
  • At least one to two years of working experience is preferrable
  • Good vision up to 23 meters
  • Physical fitness.
  • Knowledge of government rules and regulations
  • Experience driving in different weather conditions, times of day, and parts of the country
  • Experience working in warehouses and logistics roles
  • Mechanical experience
  • Ability to work independently.
