The Opportunity
Cochlear has an opportunity for Manufacturing Support Engineer (Cable Assembly) at Kuala Lumpur Office. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing cable assembly line setup, optimizing processes, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring product quality. Additionally, he/she will collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform validation and achieve manufacturing targets.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions.
  • Ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner.
  • Routes, wires, and assembles electronic components using/developing wire layout boards.
  • Numerous hand assembly operations based on detailed instructions.
  • Operate semi-automatic equipment such as overmold, crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using friendly test fixtures.
  • Use of a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products.
  • Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using friendly test fixtures.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products. Capable liaise and collaborate with other departments (warehouse, supply, procurement, NPI) to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Ability to analyze the failures & challenges using proven method to identify the root cause and implement solution for yield & quality improvement.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Mechanical/Electronics or related field, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ of experience in preferably in a highly regulated GMP manufacturing environment/ from medical device manufacturing industry will have an added advantage.
  • Experience in working within a Quality Management system, Production Management system (e.g. Oracle, SAP) and possess decent knowledge in Change Management Process is highly desirable.
  • Experience in design experiments Design of Experiment (DOE), develop protocols, perform process validations.
  • Risk management (Risk Analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA FMEA) experience preferred.
  • Experience in designing process flow and production line layouts.
  • Supporting NPI activities and helps ensure a smooth transition into production Manufacturing.
  • Proven competencies in problem solving, design, manufacturing/business and process development.
  • Solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors with IPC 620 soldering standards (IPC 620 certified will have an added advantage).
  • Experienced in semi-automatic equipment such as over mold, crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers.
  • Review product, process and equipment designs, work instruction and safety to ensure the business needs are met without compromising the quality requirements are met.
  • Analyze and resolve complex Manufacturing, Quality and Compliance issues (e.g., CAPA, non-conformances, audit observations).
  • Ability to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions.
  • Wire harness, RF cable assembly and custom box build assembly experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner.
  • Routes, wires, and assembles electronic components using/developing wire layout boards.
  • Multitasking in a heavily regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
