Category Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business goals to enhance the Beauty, Confectionary, Toys, FAWJ and Local Products categories.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and new product introductions.
  • Establish pricing strategies, promotions, and product placement to maximize category profitability.

Supplier Relationships and Negotiations:

  • Manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing, and promotional support to secure favourable terms.
  • Collaborate with vendors to source exclusive products and align with brand objectives.
  • Point of contact with brands on product training for the team.

Product Assortment Optimization:

  • Oversee the selection and curation of products within each category to ensure a well-rounded and attractive assortment.
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock turnover, and sales performance to make informed decisions about product offerings.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Head of Retail Operations and Marketing to ensure category strategies are aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Liaise with regional team to implement global best practices.- Regional Purchasing/Marketing /Cat Man / Supply Chain.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor category performance metrics, sales data, and profitability to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, showcasing category achievements and strategies.

Market Insights and Consumer Understanding:

  • Conduct regular market research to stay updated on consumer preferences, shopping trends, and competitive activities.
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies to drive category growth and customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to a Category Management Executive.
  • Delegate tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews to foster professional development.

In-Store Visual Merchandising:

  • Collaborate with Retail and Marketing teams to ensure appealing and effective product displays that enhance customer engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proven experience in category management, retail operations, or merchandising, preferably within the duty-free, travel retail, or retail industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Analytical mindset and proficiency in data analysis tools to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across different functions.
  • Results-oriented approach with a track record of achieving sales targets and category growth.
  • Familiarity with Beauty, Confectionary, Toys, FAWJ and Local Products categories is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of global and regional market trends in the duty-free industry.
  • A pronounced can-do attitude, complemented by the capability to multi-task and the flexibility to handle changing requirements in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM10,000.00 per month
