Job Summary:
The Learning and Development Manager will be responsible for creating, implementing, and managing comprehensive learning and development programs for Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur
This role will collaborate with senior stakeholders in various departments to assess learning needs, design effective training solutions and be an ambassador of our Shangri-La Culture.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for employee development and a track record of delivering successful learning programs with measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning Needs Analysis:
Conduct thorough assessments to identify skill gaps and learning needs across the organization.
Collaborate with department heads and subject matter experts to define learning objectives and the appropriate learning intervention to close the gap.
Design / Advise Internal Learning Interventions:
Serve as an internal consultant, identifying or developing innovative and engaging training programs that align with the business objectives and employee development needs.
Create a variety of learning resources, including e-learning modules, workshops, and on-the-job materials.
Delivery of Programs
Facilitate orientation and other workshops, both in-person and virtually.
Ensure the programs designed by Headquarters and Regional Office are facilitated to the appropriate audience
Learning Technology:
Stay up-to-date with learning technology trends and leverage tools to enhance learning effectiveness.
Manage the Learning Experience Platform (LXP) to ensure efficient content delivery and tracking of learning progress.
Ambassador of the Shangri-La Culture
Role modelling the Shangri-La Values with innate qualities of humility, sincerity, courtesy, respect, selflessness and thoughtfulness.
Encourage new joiners and existing colleagues to live and breathe the Shangri-La culture in their work
Budget Management:
Prepare and manage the L&D budget as per guidelines from Headquarters and regional office, ensuring cost-effective solutions and resources allocation.
Leverage on government subsidies and incentives where possible.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure all training programs comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
Generate reports and insights on training effectiveness and ROI for senior management, ensuring the property obtains the full score for learning programs in the balanced scorecard.
Talent Development Strategy:
Work closely with HR and hotel leadership team to align learning and development programs with talent management and succession planning.
Oversee Trainee Programs and Cross Exposure / Talent Exchange
Ensure trainees are properly oriented and deliver on our renowned Shangri-La hospitality.
Cascade opportunities for talent exchange and manage cross exposure participants.
What are we looking out for?
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Social Science or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
At least 3 years proven experience as an L&D Manager or in a similar role.
High degree of maturity and emotional intelligence.
Strong understanding of learning principles.
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
Familiarity with learning experience platforms, learning management systems and e-learning authoring tools.
Project management and organizational skills.
Proactive, well-organized, detail-minded team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work independently under pressure.
Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision making.
Certification in Learning and Development or related field is a plus.
