Job Overview: The Sales Manager for the automotive service department is responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the service business by managing the service sales team, developing service sales strategies, and building strong relationships with customers. Set clear objectives and targets for the service sales team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of service advisors, sales representatives, and other service staff. Provide ongoing training to the team on customer service, product knowledge, sales techniques, and upselling opportunities. Monitor team performance and provide coaching to ensure that service staff meets sales goals and delivers an excellent customer experience. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to encourage repeat business. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly, ensuring that customer satisfaction remains high. Promote additional service products such as extended warranties, maintenance packages, or tire protection plans to customers. Sales Performance & Reporting: Monitor and analyze the performance of the service sales team, ensuring that sales targets and KPIs are met. Generate and present regular sales reports to senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Track and analyze service revenue, profit margins, and customer retention rates. Collaboration with Service Operations: Work closely with the service department to understand capacity, scheduling, and service delivery timelines, ensuring that sales strategies align with operational capabilities. Ensure that service advisors are trained to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities, such as recommending recommended repairs or services based on vehicle health assessments. Collaborate with parts and inventory teams to ensure that service parts and accessories are available for timely repairs and services. Marketing and Promotion: Develop promotional campaigns to attract new customers and retain existing ones, focusing on seasonal service offers, maintenance packages, and vehicle-specific service needs. Oversee the execution of service marketing materials, both online and offline, to raise awareness of service offerings. Represent the company at local events, trade shows, and customer outreach programs to promote the service department’s offerings. Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Assist in the preparation of the service department’s budget and ensure that service sales activities remain within budget constraints. Monitor expenses related to service promotions, advertising, and customer incentives. Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure that all service operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations. Implement quality control measures to ensure that the service department maintains high standards of service delivery, customer satisfaction, and safety. Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in automotive service sales or a similar customer-facing role, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or management capacity. Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field is preferred. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of automotive service products and processes. Strong sales and customer service abilities, with a proven track record of meeting sales goals. Ability to analyze sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license (required).
