Purpose of Role: The Database Geologist is responsible for managing and maintaining geological databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility. This role involves integrating various types of geological data, performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks, and providing data outputs for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage geological databases, including drilling, sampling, assay, mapping, and grade control data.
- Perform QA/QC checks and verification on data and databases.
- Generate and validate three-dimensional models of geology, alteration, and mineralization.
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and managers to provide data in useful formats.
- Update the database with new data and supervise database technicians.
- Ensure effective and efficient management of the geological database.
- Maintain workflow schedules and follow all company procedures and protocols.
- Build positive relationships with team members, landowners, and the general public.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a mining or geological setting.
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
- Familiarity with geological modeling software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GIS databases and geospatial data.
- Knowledge of modern data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI).
- Understanding of health and safety guidelines in a mining environment.
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
