Job Purpose

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the operational management and support of all activities relating to academic standards and quality assurance enhancement across the University. He/she is required to ensure that there is a regular cycle of feedback from students, staff and industry experts, all of which is used to share new ideas to constantly improve and maintain the academic standards.

The Quality Assurance Manager will provide guidance and direction to all Heads of Department/Managers and academic staff across the University on academic standards and quality of the teaching and learning opportunities provided by the University. He/she will also provide guidance and advice to all Heads of Department/Managers across the University on quality assurance system and processes for academic and non-academic quality matters.

The Quality Assurance Manager will ensure that the good name and reputation of the University is protected through the implementation of its academic standards and obligations to its students. He/she is also required to ensure that the University complies with quality assurance and regulatory frameworks.

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible to coordinate and manage accreditation and policy documents of Saito University College, external accreditation through government quality rating instrument (SETARA), liaison with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), self-accreditation audits as well as supporting the faculties in professional accreditation and external audits.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Quality & Institutional Development

  • Work with senior management to ensure that there are appropriate academic structures and policies in place that enable the University to implement its academic strategy and its obligations to students.
  • Play a leading role in:
  • shaping the quality management framework and the academic regulatory framework in order to promote academic standards and quality of students experience; and
  • initiation, development and implementation of major institutional projects and review.
  • Ensure that effective and integrated quality management processes and procedures are in place for all academic and non-academic quality matters across the University.
  • Work with academic heads on the management of faculty quality assurance relating to development, accreditation, modification and continuous improvement of subjects, programmes and modules.
  • Undertake process reviews and audits, supporting the design, development and implementation of quality management systems and standard operating procedures across the University.
  • Provide guidance on the development of programmes and module proposals, including providing feedback through pre-validation activity.
  • Support areas of the faculties which are subject to external reviews, visits or other forms of accreditation or inspection.
  • Monitor changes to the regulatory framework for ISO quality standards and developments in the higher education sector and propose actions to be taken by the University in response to these changes.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management in order to protect the quality and academic standards of the University, including its name and reputation.
  • Responsible for internal quality audits and reviews of all quality assurance matters relating to academic and non-academic activities.
  • Lead internal and external ISO audits and ensure appropriate actions take place to internal and external audits reports.
  • Compile and provide information and documentation to MoHE and MQA for self-accreditation and compliance audits; SETARA and other institutional rankings and standards.

Others

  • Provide support and coordinate activities in the Chancellery’s Office on matters relating to academic policies and practices of the University
  • Provide support for strategic projects led by the Vice Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor including conducting research, drafting correspondence and reports, prepare presentations and collating resources and information related to the projects for and on behalf of the Vice Chancellor and/or Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
  • Undertake other relevant projects and job responsibilities to be decided upon from time to time and any other duties assigned by the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Education Management or a related field
  • At least 5 years in quality assurance roles, preferably in higher education institution
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, standards, processes and compliance
  • Good analytical abilities for process reviews and improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Results oriented with great attention to details
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
