Objectives of the Position
This position is to customize connectivity solutions for internal partners and external companies via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and similar technologies and be responsible for supplemental tasks in the daily operation, e.g., operational support (2nd/3rd level), issue resolving, quality assurance, and business interaction. The role also includes assignments to support comprehensive business integration projects.
You will support our internal and external customers to specify their requirements and translate those into best-in-class Solution Designs based on technical and business process knowledge, aligned with process design and architecture. This position is in a global, international setting for BPI DevOps, interacting with team members in all other regions to provide sustainable digital solutions for our partners.
Additional work aspects include strategic contribution to IT architecture and cross-process digitalization efforts, interacting with connectivity solutions by supporting API, microservices, generative AI, and other industry-relevant technical developments.
Connectivity Business Functions in scope: Ordering/Market-to-Order, Procurement, Transport and Logistics, Finance, and other related ERP processes.
Main Tasks
- Consult and support internal and external partners when dealing with complex processes and IT application questions.
- Consult and support IT analysis (process and/or data), mentoring, modeling, solution design, and optimization of related business processes and models.
- Provide a deep technical understanding of standard connectivity message structures and programming protocols (supporting e.g. iDocs, XML, EDIFACT, VDA, JSON, etc.).
- Ability to work and navigate in SAP middleware platforms (PO, CPI, etc.).
- Demonstrate transactional experience in ERPs such as SAP R3 and/or S4/HANA.
- Conduct and support the technical implementation of the B2B Integration to external partners.
- Execute studies in preliminary stages of projects, including evaluation of existing or new solutions.
- Ability to support strategic planning and assume roles as project manager and related tasks.
- Coordinate and execute prototyping, configuration, and testing of solutions based on BASF requirements, while ensuring quality and security aspects.
- Provide structured acceptance, analysis, and description of solutions and/or concepts.
- Support and/or steer the formulation of more complex cost estimates for efforts spent on solution design, testing, and implementation of business solutions.
- Provide business support and training (processes, tools, reports, etc.) where required.
- Provide guidance and structure to enable day-to-day operational support including advising external support resources.
- Participate in or steer more complex projects including collaboration with internal partners and external companies.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Business IT, Business Economics, or other relevant fields.
Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)
- Experience in Systems Connectivity (B2B), middleware configuration (SAP PO, CPI), understanding in OTC, P2P processes.
Additional requirements (good to have)
- Experience in API and Generative AI.
- Knowledge in ABAP.
- Knowledge of process and industry requirements specific to OTC, Logistics and related processes including regulatory requirements.
- Good communication skills and proficient in English.
- Good team player.
