We are the Industry Division of IJM Group, one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates. We are now looking for an experience individual with Quarry operations experiences to be our Quarry Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities and Scope of Work
- Quarry Operations Management
- Oversee and coordinate daily operations across all company-owned quarries to ensure efficient production and optimal output levels.
- Develop and implement operational plans, schedules, and procedures to achieve production targets and maximize resource utilization.
- Directly manage the workforce and resources required for drilling, blasting, crushing, and screening operations.
- Quality Control and Compliance
- Establish quality control measures to ensure product consistency in alignment with both customer specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits and site inspections to maintain high standards of production quality.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and safety regulations, including periodic reporting and documentation for regulatory authorities.
- Maintenance Oversight
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all quarry equipment (e.g., crushers, loaders, trucks) to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to address repair needs promptly, troubleshoot equipment issues, and schedule regular equipment servicing.
- Manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective repairs and upgrades are prioritized for critical machinery.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Management
- Coordinate with subcontractors for outsourced activities (such as transportation, drilling, and blasting) to ensure adherence to schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers of quarry materials, spare parts, and services to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
- Production and Cost Efficiency
- Monitor and optimize production costs through careful resource management, efficient scheduling, and waste minimization practices.
- Analyze production data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement in output, cost-efficiency, and safety performance.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce operational costs, and improve resource recovery rates.
- Workforce and Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop quarry staff to foster a high-performance and safety-focused culture.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and provide ongoing training and development for team members.
- Promote clear communication channels across all quarry teams and departments to ensure alignment and coordination on operational goals.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental
- Champion a proactive safety culture, ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, hazard assessments, and emergency response plans.
- Oversee environmental compliance, monitoring dust, noise, and waste management practices to minimize impact on the surrounding environment.
- Develop and enforce risk management strategies to reduce workplace accidents and ensure safe operations.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a senior role within quarry operations, with proven experience in managing complex quarrying environments.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related fields
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of quarry equipment and heavy machinery, including their maintenance and operational requirements.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills to guide and develop a large, diverse team.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot operational issues swiftly and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Safety Conscious: Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
